水彩画を描く時にマスキング液を使用

Using masking fluid when painting watercolors

I use masking fluid and masking tape to paint watercolors. I like a sharp-edged style, and I want to express the details as much as possible, so I do quite a bit of masking.

Unlike the method of leaving areas unpainted with a brush, masking prevents paint from getting on the masked areas, allowing for more momentum with the brush. On the other hand, it requires processing after the masking, and it also necessitates blending the masked areas so that they do not stand out. While it is labor-intensive, I believe it is an effective method for those seeking a sharp painting style.

maskingWhen using tape, if the watercolor paper is medium or rough, the surface is coarse, which can easily create gaps between the tape and the watercolor paper, leading to the possibility of paint leaking. I use ultra-fine paper with a smooth surface.
